I just have to express my amazement at what’s been happening in Iran and the fact that it’s being broadcast by Iranian citizens through Twitter. I can’t predict what the end result will be of this movement that has risen from their dissatisfaction with the presidential election, but communication barriers have been officially knocked down.
Twitter has served as a news reporting mechanism as events are happening. While the government shuts down phone and internet access, citizens are still finding ways to report through Twitter. The US State Department asked Twitter to postpone its scheduled site maintenance so that it could keep up with Iran-related tweets. That’s huge!
Social networking for social change, folks. This tool is incredibly powerful as a means of reaching people that we never imagined being able to reach before.
After what the Orlando Magic did to my Cleveland Cavaliers (though they certainly deserved to win that series), I’m glad the Lakers are up three games to one with game five in L.A. Expect to see Orlando fight like dogs during game five; they will show absolutely no mercy on the Lakers and have been known to claw their way back to victory.
All the Lakers need to do is keep half the Magic team away from the three-point line, keep Courtney Lee out of the lane, and and keep Dwight Howard off the boards. Yeah, that’s it….simple as that! It’s an awfully tall order, but if they’ve kept them at a distance and only allowed them to win one game, then the Lakers can finish this off in five.
